A Partnership Between United Way of Colquitt County & the City of Moultrie
The Panhandling Project is a collaborative effort between United Way of Colquitt County and the City of Moultrie designed to compassionately support individuals in need while also helping local businesses and visitors enjoy a safe, welcoming downtown experience.
Rather than giving directly to panhandling, this initiative encourages the community to give through a coordinated system that connects people to real help—at the right time, in the right way.
Donations made through the Panhandling Project are held and used when there is an immediate, verified need. Funds may be used when:
An individual experiencing homelessness seeks assistance
A downtown business contacts the City regarding someone in need of help
A situation arises where short-term support can connect someone to local resources
If funds are available, assistance can be provided quickly and responsibly. If funds are not available, individuals are still connected to information and community resources whenever possible.
This project helps:
Individuals in need receive support through trusted local partners
Businesses operate smoothly without managing crisis situations alone
Visitors and tourists experience a welcoming, organized downtown
The community give with confidence, knowing donations are used intentionally and locally
By working together, we can reduce street panhandling while increasing meaningful assistance and coordination.
Signs throughout downtown feature a QR code that links directly to this donation page. This allows anyone who wants to help to do so in a way that supports dignity, accountability, and real impact—without overwhelming limited local resources.
Your generosity helps ensure help is available when it’s needed most.
Together, United is the Way.
